A chef from Fowey has been appearing this week in the fourth series of the television programme, Great British Menu.
Nathan Outlaw, who runs his restaurant at the Marina Villa Hotel, has been paired against another chef from the South West, Shaun Rankin, in the programme.
They compete to cook a homecoming dinner for the men and women returning from serving for all three forces in Afghanistan. The menu has to capture the authentic tastes of home.
They had to create a starter, a fish course, a main course and a dessert using the best ingredients from their local area.
They have had to cook a different course every day before eventually serving their entire menu to the judges, Oliver Peyton, Matthew Fort and Pru Leith.
The contest reaches a climax tonight on BBC2 at 6.30.
The eight winners from the regional heats are to go forward to a national final.
As part of the contest, Shaun had to work at Nathan's restaurant in Fowey during a busy period. The restaurant was placed at number 11 in the Good Food Guide 2009.
Nathan started cooking aged 14 with his father, who is a chef, and then went on to study in Broadstairs, Kent.
Following periods working with a number of notable chefs, he spent two years at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.
Nathan launched his restaurant within the Marina Villa Hotel two years ago.
