TOLLS levied on motorists using the Tamar Bridge should remain at their present level, provided traffic continues to increase.

Members of Plymouth City Council's Cabinet heard this week that, provided growth continues at one per cent a year over the next four years, there should be no need to raise the fee beyond its present level of £1.50, or 75p for Tamar Tag holders.

Members of the council were discussing the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Business Plan 2015-2019, which stated 'proposed budgets and delivery of the Business Plan will be funded from toll inco-me, and based on assumed annual traffic growth of one per cent from 2015/16 onwards, no increase in toll cha-rges are anticipated in the four years covered by the Business Plan.'

The Tamar crossings are overseen by a joint committee of members of the city council and Cornwall Council, which have yet to approve the business plan.
