The East Cornwall Premier League will have
its full complement of
32 teams for the 2009-10 campaign, as three new clubs have been elected.
In a special meeting held every season prior to the League AGM, Edgcumbe, St Dennis and Millbrook were chosen for the coming term.
Bodmin Trophies Duchy League champions Edgcumbe have taken automatic promotion, although they will have plenty of work to do to update the facilities at their new Horsham Field ground at Torpoint.
The Duchy League have allowed a second club to leave the League – Westinsure Cornwall Junior Cup holders St Dennis.
Previous members of the Lea-gue, St Dennis pulled out after just eight games in 2006.
Millbrook are the surprising third club voted in, despite not having a team in any league.
They left the East Cornwall Premier League in 2003 after just four seasons, and the team – expected to be made up of members of their under-18 squad – will be managed by Ryan Swiggs.
The teams missing out are Duchy League sides St Teath and Dobwalls and Plymouth University Marjons.
St Teath didn't finish high enough in the Duchy League Premier Division, while Dobwalls finished bottom of Division One.
The decision is a big blow for Marjons, who were hoping to make the first steps up the pyramid in the wake of Bath University's TeamBath, who folded dramatically when the Conference South League told them they would not allow a university team to progress any higher in the pyramid.
The new clubs will be ratified at the East Cornwall Premier League's AGM on Tuesday, June 16, at St Blazey (7.30 pm).
The meeting also agreed that instead of being 2.30 pm all season, kick-off times will be 3.00 pm in the autumn and 2.30 pm in the winter months, while an idea to regionalise the League was also thrown out.
