The EU is 'anti-British'
Colin Breed, Lib Dem MP, and two correspondents, have told us in The Cornish Times what stupid people we are in Cornwall for booting out Robin Teverson, Lib Dem, in the recent European Parliamentary Election. Well, they would, wouldn't they?
Why did we give Lib Dems the sack? Because '70 per cent of Cornish voters couldn't be bothered to vote'. Tony Johnson tell us. So the 30 per cent who did vote were conscientious and sensible? 'Only the dinosaur brigade of yesteryear Euro-bashers were sufficiently motivated to turn out', says Mr Johnson. So 100 per cent of us in Cornwall were lazy or out of touch, according to him. In other words, he believes in democracy only when his candidate wins.
He says 'Europe is vital to our future'. Is he really afraid that, when we have the sense to quit the EU, which is clearly what most of us want to do, Europe will vanish, or stop trading with us? Is he unaware that the EU countries desperately need to trade with us, as they benefit from that trade much more than we do, so the trade will continue whether or not we are in their grotesque Tower of Babel?
Our former MEP may have been good at getting back some of the money we paid to the EU. But we have the sense to recognise that getting back some of the money nicked from our back pockets isn't good enough. We want to be shot of the corrupt, parasitic, expensive, undemocratic EU which has wrecked our fishing and beef industries and is increasingly damaging our economy.
No, the low turn-out in the election was not a result of apathy. It was simply that the people of Cornwall have realised that Labour, the Lib Dems and Pro-Euro Conservatives, by keeping us in the EU, are acting against our best interests.
Far from Mr Johnson's jibe that Cornwall is in the 19th century being true, we are leading the way in ending enslavement to the anti-British EU. Bravo, people of Cornwall!
