The finals of the Cornwall LTA Indoor tournament were held at Bodmin Indoor Tennis Centre on Saturday last, the finalists having battled their way through for the right to play for the title of County Champion the previous weekend. The standard of play was very high throughout the Championships, the highest in the last six years since the tournament was resurrected.

In the Ladies section, the reigning champion Anna Sharland (Truro) fought off previous champion Clare Fraser (Truro) in the semi-finals, whilst the fast improving Vicki Eames (Duloe, Liskeard) proved too powerful for the contenders in her half of the draw. In the final, Vicki's weight of shot saw her through to her first Senior County title, winning 6-2, 6-3.

The Men's title had been won for the past five years by Ryan Fern (Redruth), but he was not able to defend the title this year, so the field was open for a new champion to win through. Tim Webster (Bodmin) lived up to his number one seeding to reach the final against rising star Liam Storey (Liskeard). Tim played a very solid match, never letting Liam get fully into gear, and ran out a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 winner.

In the doubles events, the previous years champions once again showed the skill and determination to remain unbeaten and retained their titles, with Anna Sharland and Clare Fraser beating Vicki Eames and Shelley Fowell (Torpoint) 6-4, 6-0 and Tim Webster and Ryan Fern not having to play the final due to an injury to Jake Hartigan (Newquay), who was partnered by Nigel Richards.

Plate events were run for those who didn't make it through the first round of the main event. The Ladies' was won by Helen Wilson (Bodmin) who beat Kate Flavelle (Truro) 6-1, 6-0, and the Men's by Jo Phillips (Truro) who won the most exciting match of the day against Martin Cripps (Penzance) in three close sets 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
