THE 2001 James Webster Memorial Junior County Championships were once again held at St Austell Club.
The weather was reasonable throughout the week and it was a very successful tournament with a record number of 103 children taking part and some excellent tennis was played. The stars of the tournament were Adam Hayward and Helen Stubbs, both from Truro Cub, who both reached and won three finals.
The awards for the most improved players of the year went to jeremy Sinden (Bude) and Francesca Jackson (Bodmin).
The presentation of the prizes was made on behalf of the County sponsors, Century Litho, Printers of Falmouth, by Director, Sarah Julian.

WITH just two outstanding results due, all the championship and relegation positions in the Wilson Cornwall League have now been resolved.
In Division Two East, Menheniot completed a most successful first League season with a convincing 10-1 win at Wadebridge C which gains them the runners-up position. Wadebridge B finished their season in third position after good wins over Liskeard and Looe, whilst Bude E left it until their very last match to achieve their only victory of the season against a depleted Wadebridge C team.
