Parking charges at Liskeard station have been cut in half in an effort to curb anti-social parking in the area.

First Great Western has reduced the charges at the station to £1 a day. Mike George, Cornwall Council member for Liskeard South and Dobwalls, said: 'I am delighted that First Great Western has taken this very positive step and hope that it will relieve the parking congestion in the residential roads near the station.

'Often the large number of parked cars on the streets restrict traffic to one lane, causing problems for emergency vehicles, lorries and residents.'

The move follows a campaign to get the charges reduced, after the parking fee of £2 was introduced in the spring of last year.
