SPORTING stars from East Cornwall were among the winners at the 2009 Cornwall Sports Awards, which were held at The Esplanade Hotel in Newquay last Friday.

More than 200 people attended the event, including special guests Olympic weightlifter Michaela Breeze, Cornwall rugby coach Dave Thomas, and last year's BBC South West Unsung Sporting Hero Chris Goninan.
