Another week's rest from league skittles was concentrated on the remaining 16 teams, who were unfortunately knocked out of the original Whitbread Cup tournament It was a chance for some of the lower placed teams to look for an award at the end of the season.
Also battling it out in the second round of the 5-a-side competition another remaining 16 teams were in action. This saw a break from league skittles where several teams with prospects of promotion had to wait for week commencing 3rd April for the final games to be played and decide their fate.
First big surprise came in the Chairman's Cup games saw the division four Flyers, who trailed by nine pins at half-time come back very strongly in the second half to get the better of division one Jets and stake their place in the quarter-finals.
In an all division four game despite a second half 100% effort the Thrashers were unable to match the Breakaways who were victors by 20 pins. Another all division four clash at the Liskeard Sports club, which turned out to be a very low scoring game, the Victorians from Roche came out the best over the Ladybirds by 30 pins.
Two division two teams were drawn against each other, which showed the Marquees with a substantial lead by 33 pins over the high riding Crickets and despite a big effort by their visitors ended the evening winners by 26 pins.
Division One Hits and Misses had what looked on paper an easy home draw versus the division four Circles and, true to form, got the better of their visitors ending up 42 pins to their advantage and await their opponents in the last eight. A major contribution to this victory was due to Hannah Parsons, who with her 89 pins now heads the highest ladies score in a non league game.
Another all two division pairing went true to form as after four legs one pin separated the Oddballs from the Sandpipers at Millendreath. A similar story in the second half saw the visitors add two more pins to their advantage and clinched the game by three pins.
The Tri-Ards held a 17-pin advantage at Treburley over the visiting Foxes at half-time and despite the Foxes all out effort in the remaining four legs ended up with the home side going into the quarter finals with their seven pin majority. The Burley Booties versus Seccombes game is postponed until Monday 10th April, owing to alley unavailability.

The Marketeers travelled to the Sandpipers B and took control in the early part of the game and despite the home side's second half rally held on to win by eight pins. The Crickets looked set for victory at the Callington Cricket Club, where the Madhatters B were their opponents. But after four legs of skittles the scoring was completely reversed ending up with a 13 pin advantage to the visitors to go into the draw with the last eight. Division Two
In their final league game at Duloe the Terriers got the better of the Legionaires winning 4-2 points which put them in with a strong chance of the division two title.
This all depended on how the Crickets fared against the Burley Booties this last Monday at Treburley. The Crickets needed all six points. I witnessed a tense game where, at half-time, two pins separated the two teams in Booties favour, which was enough to dampen their spirit and now may have to settle for runner-up spot. The home team ended the night taking the remaining four points, so now the Crickets await the result of the Marketeers v Ditchers game, Thursday 6th April, to see who joins the Terriers in division one next season.
In division one the Bulldogs received the Jets in their final game which also would decide runner-up spot. What a night this turned out to be with both teams scoring high to end the evening with Bulldogs accounting for 587 pins which included 15 spares and the Jets knocked over 572 pins with 14 spares, both teams accounted for 293 pins each in the second half which meant a 5-1 point win for Bulldogs and the runners-up spot.
One late result just received in division four - Thrashers secured a 4-2 point win over the Socialites at Callington, placing them in a respectable position in the table.
