‘EVERY child deserves to feel good about themselves,’ says a Seaton youngster who plans to donate her long hair to charity.

Siân Humphreys, aged nine, will be having her long hair cut in July to be sent to the Little Princess Trust. The trust provides free wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of medical treatment.

‘I want to help other children who are going through a tough time with cancer,’ said Sian, who is a Year 5 pupil at St Nicolas School in Downderry.

‘Having to have lifesaving treatment that causes their hair to fall out must be terrible and if having a wig can make them feel better, I would be glad to help in this simple way.’

Siân says that, by July, her locks should be long enough to make one of the trust’s longer wigs.

‘This also gives me time to do some fundraising for the Little Princess Trust,’ she added.

A wig can cost up to £500 to make.’

Siân’s mum and dad, Roz and David, said: ‘It is an extremely thoughtful thing to do and this was all her own idea. We are very proud of her.’
