Scrap the white bag rubbish!

It was only when I read the comments of Caradon DC, that the initial feedback from the public on the garden waste scheme was generally very supportive, that the urge to respond was overwhelming. Could that be the opinion of someone sitting in an office or is it the result of a questionnaire (would they dare?) or from interviewing the man/woman in the street?

As yet, I have not discovered a single person - and I have spoken to many - that has approved of the scheme , brought in with: no apparent public notification; no choice of buying expensive bags in smaller quantities; no choice at all, or very little, of where to purchase. There are many other issues already pointed out by other incensed correspondents, not least of which is rubbish being tipped inside hedges in our country lanes.

Why can't Caradon do the 'decent thing' and scrap the scheme? It would not be seen, hopefully, as an admission of defeat, but as a sensible reaction to public opinion. This irritation will not simply go away; I think the public resistance is too strong. And so, the story goes on, and on . . .
