FOUR Scouts from South East Cornwall have been selected to travel to Japan for the World Scout Jamboree in 2015.
Three of the 18 Cornish youngsters who came through a rigorous selection weekend are from the 1st Stoke Climsland Scout Troop.
A spokesperson said that all at Stoke Climsland are very proud of Henry, Paul and Jessica, who will now begin the process of fundraising for the once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Meanwhile, Polkerris Scout Adam Cocks, 13, was also excited to hear he had been selected to go to Japan.
The Fowey Community College student attends the Polkerris Explorers, who recently had a visiting speaker from Japan. This was perfect timing for Adam, who had to learn a Japanese phrase and explain some of the differences between Japanese and British culture as part of his application.
A selection event at Siblyback Outdoor Adventure Centre then saw the 18 lucky finalists being chosen from 100 Cornish scouts.
The youngsters' team building skills were assessed as they particpated in a weekend of camping, games and competitions.
'The thing I am most excited about is meeting people from other countries,' said Adam.
'We will be camping and there will be 30,000 other scouts, so you could be pitched next to someone from as far away as Australia!'
