WESLEY Church in Saltash has decided to source its electricity from environmentally friendly generators, like wind and wave, in a bid to 'go green'.

The decision follows discussions by the Mission committee about how the church can do its utmost to look after the environment. The new electricity strategy was agreed after members heard that by paying a small premium on the electricity bill the supplier will guarantee to purchase the equivalent amount of electricity from 'green sources'.

In its bid to become more environmentally friendly the church has also been made greener with the arrival of pot plants, and people are being encouraged to travel together to church on Sunday and to meetings - or even better walk instead of ride.

Suggestions have also been made to members, including taking part in Caradon council's recycling scheme with special bags for different types of rubbish, and perhaps arranging an environmental exhibition in the church for anyone in Saltash to visit.

Wesley say they are always open to new 'greener' ideas, and if anyone can help they should telephone the administrators on 845177 any weekday morning, or call in to Wesley for a chat over a cup of tea or coffee on a Tuesday or Thursday morning.
