The Molly Harvey Rose Bowl is awarded for distinguished involvement in the sport of sailing by a lady.

An active member of an up-river club for many years the bowl this year is awarded to Nina Lillie of Saltash Sailing Club. For several years Nina served as the Minutes Secretary on the Management Committee and as Commodores came and went in annual cycles they all had reason to be grateful for Nina's ability to condense several hours of debate into a succinct and readable report.

Having served as Vice-Commodore Nina was elected Commodore of the Saltash Sailing Club for 1999. Throughout her term she has shown a desire for the club to do well by setting up a personal example of leadership that comes from real commitment to a cause. She adopts a 'buck stops here' policy and throughout the year whenever an extra pair of hands has been needed Nina has been three; whether giving out prizes in a posh frock, sitting in a safety boat in oilskins and cooking burgers in shorts and a pinny. She always leads by example.

Saltash Sailing Club with 400 members and a wide range of activities has only two hours a day of secretarial support. Volunteers on appropriate committees therefore carry out the bulk of work and the Commodore has to ensure that all these areas are performing effectively to guarantee the smooth running of the club as a whole. Despite the demands on her time to maintain high standards and keep the club on an even keel Nina's commitment to sailing has not faltered.

With John campaigning their yacht Judicious they have completed a full season's sailing including a Spring series, Thursday evenings, Coastal races, Cross channels to Guernsey and L'Aberwrach and the Dartmouth Regatta often with Jonathan their six year old son on board.
