IT has been agreed by Liskeard town councillors that Prince Charles should be invited to open the museum planned for Foresters Hall at the start of the full season, in May 2002.

The recommendation, which was accepted by the full town council at their monthly meeting on Tuesday evening, was made by the council's museum management committee following discussions with the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Lady Mary Holborow.

At Tuesday evening's meeting Nick Mallard suggested that perhaps a charitable trust should be formed to run the museum, with the councillors as trustees - a move which he explained would be economically sensible as it would allow a rates rebate to be claimed. The museum would be leased to the trust for a peppercorn rent. At the last meeting of the management committee town clerk, Brenda Furze, said work on the Hall was progressing well. Despite adverse weather conditions they were only two weeks behind.
