SOUTH WEST ONE

Caradon 6

Truro B 4

Due to work being carried out on the Truro pitch, this away fixture had to be play-ed at Lux Park.

Caradon were first to open the scoring when a short corner was pushed through from Jake Joyce to Paul Luiten who converted a convincing strike.

Gareth Jeffries, Sam and Peter Martin ably dealt with emerging attacks from the Truro side, Martin demonstrating some strong interceptions and penetrating runs to distribute the ball back to the Caradon forwards.

Caradon then continued their successful conversion of short corners with two further goals, from Neil Mullis and Luiten.

Early in the second period, having created a golden opportunity in their opponents' D, a ball to head clash resulted in Robbie McCartney being stretchered off.

Caradon then suffered a prolonged lapse of concentration and allowed Truro to draw even. The visitors had re-grouped at the break and worked some sustained attacks, one of which was finished by their skillful centre-forward, weaving his way across the goalmouth before picking his final shot well.

With three much-needed points to play for, the hosts re-applied themselves, and it was not long before Luiten put his side ahead again.

With confidence growing

in their short-corner routine, Caradon's fifth came from Mullis taking a slip position inside the D to slot the ball home.

In the dying moments of the game – and with a tight margin of victory – the Caradon side kept pushing.

Charlie McCartney slammed home their sixth, closely followed by another heroic effort from the Mini Doc that didn't quite hit the mark... but probably went some way to earning him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Before the game, Caradon captain Toby Riddle said of the recent changes in formation: 'I'd like to think that when we get the consistency sorted the points will follow.'

'Thanks to all those that played – it was a very good result and a much-needed three points. Everyone played very well.'
