So, the Home Park hotseat has finally been filled.

Peter Reid – who was assistant

to former Plymouth Argyle boss Tony Pulis at Stoke City last season – has been confirmed by chairman Sir Roy Gardner as the Pilgrims' new manager.

Gardner said of the former Sunderland and Manchester City man: 'Peter has a wealth of experience after a lifetime in the dressing-room

and dug-out, which made him the stand-out candidate to progress the club on the pitch. We look forward to many years of success together.'

The Greens have also announced that they

have cancelled plans to play a pre-season friendly match against top-class opposition on the new pitch.
