FOURTEEN members of the Cornwall Croquet Club spent the weekend competing for the Jennings Short-Lawn Trophy.
Similar to normal Association Croquet, but played on half size courts with some modified rules, the games consisted of a maximum of 14 points.
With a time limit of an hour and a quarter per game, not all the games went the full distance.
The competition was played in two 'leagues', with each person playing six games, and the person, who gained the most points in each 'league', competing in the final.
The two finalists were Ron George and Stephen Read, who won all of his 'league' games with a maximum score of 84, and also pegged out with another maximum score in the final to emerge the winner.

Meanwhile, Helston area resident, and member of the Porthpean-based Cornwall Croquet Club, Paul Schofield, played in the four-day Sussex County Croquet Club's August Tournament.
During his final match he achieved a run of 12 hoops.
In recognition of this, he has been awarded the Croquet Association's National Merit Silver Award.
Croquet is often referred to as 'snooker on grass', and with that analogy his feat may be compared to a snooker break of well over 100.
