Budding Supply Chain Logisticians training at HMS Raleigh have tested their fitness levels to raise money for a Plymouth-based children’s charity.
The group of trainees set themselves the challenge of collectively completing 2,000 sit-ups, 2,000 press-ups and 2,000 squats in four and a half hours in support of the Hugs From Henry charity. To add to the pressure their instructors and fellow trainees could nominate individuals to complete extras of each exercise to add to the total raised. They hope to have made £500.
The Supply Chain training squadron has chosen to adopt Hugs From Henry as their chosen charity and focus for all fundraising. It was set-up by the family of Henry Hallam, who was diagnosed with an aggressive form of childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma, in 2012 at the age of three. Henry’s family originally intended to raise funds for his treatment, but as his illness has stabilised, the family have chosen to use the money donated to help others in similar circumstances. More information on the charity is available at hugsfromhenry.co.uk/
