LOCAL people are being encouraged to join in with two events to round off Liskeard Relay for Life’s year of fundraising.
A creative competition is open for all age groups until September 25 – and whatever medium you enjoy making and creating in, you’re invited to take part. There are three categories to choose from: Relay for Life (recreate the Relay in whichever way you like); Purple – use the colour as inspiration; and Hope.
Any type of creative work is welcome from crochet or carpentry to singing, dancing or putting pen to paper, says Alex Putna of the Relay committee.
Participants should photograph their work and send the images to [email protected] and make a donation on the website at https://relay.cancerresearch.uk.org/goto/relaycreativecompetition
The closing date of the competition on September 25 is timed to coincide with the final event of the year for Liskeard Relay for Life – a Rainbow Ribbon Walk at Siblyback Lake.
The event from 1-4pm will involve a fun treasure hunt for children and adults, whilst highlighting a wide variety of the different cancers represented by the coloured ribbons along the route.
There’ll also be the Relay For Life stall at the main car park, with different games and activities to enjoy.
“It’s been another incredible year of support in what has still been a difficult year for people to come together,” said Alex. “But we are staggeringly close to smashing our target of £25,000, so it would be fantastic to have folks join us in these last events.”
