A steam railway is being installed at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

The miniature railway is scheduled to offer rides for children and adults at weekends and during the school summer holidays.

Liskeard Model Society has given the complete railway, including locomotives, to the park which is run jointly by Cornwall Council and Plymouth City Council.

The set-up previously operated as the Railway in the Woods at the Morval Rally which came to an end last year.

The railway will be sited in the lower gardens and will raise funds towards the upkeep of the park.

Volunteers are being sought to help run the railway and further information about volunteering can be obtained from the park office.
