ORGANISERS of an anti-dumping protest are hoping that hundreds of supporters will join them in Whitsand Bay tomorrow (Sunday).

The protest will be staged following a new application by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for a licence to deposit material dredged from Devonport Dockyard at a site off Rame Head.

Campaigners say that the Rame Peninsula’s ‘community Christmas wish is for the dumping, which has been going on for decades, to be stopped once and for all.

They say that the site is only 700m from the Whitsand and Looe Bay Marine Conservation Zone and that potentially contaminated material could be causing harm to marine life.

The demonstration is set to take place at Sharrow Point, Whitsand Bay at 11am on Sunday.

Shuttle buses will be running from Millbrook and Cawsand before and after the demo.
