The first event held as part of the Polperro Festival 2000, was the much enjoyed Lord Mayor's Ball at the Royal British Legion Club on Saturday, with local group Jo La Cat, giving a rousing performance.
The current mayor, Mr Joe Card, was presented with a framed portrait of himself and an inscribed bowl by Mr John Marshall, who also gave a short potted history of Polperro's Lord Mayors to date.
Also in attendance were two former mayors, John Holden and Mrs Brenda Thomas, with apologies from the first mayor, Ashley Courts.
The raffle was a great success thanks to committee member Robert Chisman and all the traders who gave generously, and thanks were also accorded the RBL Club for the use of their premises.
The Polperro Festival is from June 17-25.
