Two groups of Year 8 pupils at Liskeard School and Community College have been working on projects aimed at the youngest members of the school community as part of their Enterprise Studies. The course was pioneered last year by Deputy Head Anne Hawker, and is taught this year by Judith Lewis and Gary Smith. The aim is to foster team-building and inspire enterprise through various projects. The 12 and 13 year olds have been improving their ICT and literacy skills by producing interactive story books for three and four year olds at the school's own nursery. The older pupils have been particularly motivated by creating a real product for real children. They had the opportunity to present their work in the school's recently modernised Active Learning Centre in which the nursery children have regular literacy and storytime lessons The nursery has recently been praised by OFSTED for its modern premises. It caters for youngsters from babies to school age, operating during term time. Places are available for children from outside the school community, with funding for three and four year olds.
