St Cleer Parish Council have received a great many telephone and written complaints regarding the increased problems of 'dogs mess' around the villages and now even the Horizon Play Area has become a victim.

In respect of play areas and sportsfields, these are "dog-free zones" and although dogs cannot read, I am sure the owners can.

With the spring and summer ahead of us bringing longer hours of daylight and hopefully warmer weather, can I appeal to those dog owners who do not "clean up and dog bin it", to do so.

Increased steps have now been taken which will result in the offending owners being fined.

It should not be necessary to remind everyone of how unsociable it is and the dangers that it presents to children.

With such large areas of open spaces which attract a great many dog owners from both inside and outside the parish, an added protection to both humans and the animals which graze it, is to ensure that your dog/dogs are regularly wormed.

To those people who do act as responsible dog owners, my grateful thanks, to those who do not, a little thought and consideration for others is not a lot to ask for.
