A Cawsand couple who romanced to the music of Max Bygraves are celebrating 70 years of marriage.

Roy Honey and Janet Dickson met 75 years ago during the Second World War at a town hall dance in Grangemouth, Scotland.

Roy, who served on ammunition ships in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, was watching the local RAF band whose member Max Bygraves was singing when he spotted Janet and asked her for a dance. He had to seek her brother’s permission.

The next day they met in the local park – and they have been together ever since.

They have been celebrating their platinum anniversary with a family party and a holiday in Malta.

The couple say they have never been apart during their 70 years together – and they recently renewed their wedding vows.
