People in and around Launceston are being invited to find out more about plans for a new primary school at the Launceston Community Network Panel annual general meeting on Thursday, June 15 in Launceston Town Hall.

Representatives from Cornwall Council’s education and planning teams and Launceston College will lead the discussion about the new primary school serving the Hay Common development.

Donna Latham from Cornwall Council’s waste and environmental team will be on hand to provide a briefing about the expansion of the household recycling scheme in North Cornwall to include plastic pots, tubs and trays.

In addition to this there will be an update on the proposed medical centre extension.

As this is the annual general meeting, the panel will elect a chair for the next 12 months and agree priorities for the area for the coming year.  There will also be time for public questions and a chance to meet local Cornwall, town and parish councillors.

Launceston Community Network Panel meets quarterly to discuss matters that affect the local area and to agree priorities that can be delivered by Cornwall Council and partners such as the police and health services.

The panel’s current priorities include local health provision, road and broadband infrastructure, and neighbourhood planning.

Launceston Community Network Panel includes all five Cornwall Councillors for the area and representatives of the 16 parishes in the community network including Altarnun, Lewannick, Lezant, North Hill, South Petherwin, and Stoke Climsland.

The meeting takes place from 7pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be time for public questions.
