LISKEARD could be another step closer to getting its own McDonald’s – with town councillors set to consider two applications linked to the popular fast-food restaurant.

Liskeard Town Council’s planning committee will meet on Monday (October 5), with two McDonald’s applications for the Tencreek Farm site on its agenda.

The proposed restaurant would be built on land behind the existing Liskeard Tavern and Premier Inn on Haviland Road.

The latest applications are for the signage for the restaurant – a further indication that plans for the development are progressing.

Application PA26/05954 covers a package of external signs, including four freestanding signs, two banner units, a play area sign and 23 smaller “dot” signs, while a second application, PA26/05955, seeks consent for internally illuminated signage, including six fascia signs, three booth lettering signs, a digital booth screen and four yellow soffit lights.

Both applications are currently awaiting decisions from Cornwall Council, who in December 2025 granted conditional approval for the restaurant within a wider plan for the Tencreek site.

That permission covers a first phase of development including employment units, a drive-through restaurant, coffee shop with drive-thru, electric vehicle charging facilities, access roads, parking and landscaping.

The proposed McDonald’s would add another major fast-food outlet to the East Cornwall area, with existing restaurants already operating in nearby towns including McDonald’s at Saltash and Bodmin.

The Tencreek scheme comes with a lengthy list of conditions covering highways, drainage, ecology, landscaping, contamination and construction management.

Among the requirements are improvements to pedestrian links towards the Bubble Retail Park and upgraded crossings around the A390, Charter Way and Liskerrett Road roundabout.

Monday’s meeting will give councillors their opportunity to comment on the latest applications before Cornwall Council considers the signage proposals. The town council is a statutory consultee, while the final planning decisions remain with Cornwall Council as the local planning authority.
