Residents of a parish in South East Cornwall are being urged to ‘choose it or lose it’ when it comes to the future of their village.

Over the next three Saturdays, the steering group behind the Dobwalls and Trewidland Neighbourhood Development Plan will be holding drop-in events. The plan, which sets out policies and projects for the parish up until the year 2030, covers a huge range of areas including housing, business and jobs, accessibility, roads and parking, community facilities and open space, health, broadband, landscape and heritage.

The informal events will feature displays and maps, and members of the steering group will be on hand to explain things and listen to people’s views.

Light refreshments will be available at the events.

Chairman of the Parish Council John Dunn said: ‘We are reaching a crucial phase in the creation of the plan and we need people’s views.

‘Of course you are entitled to choose to ignore this opportunity to give your opinions but, when the Neighbourhood Plan is adopted, don’t complain about its content, because there have been numerous opportunities to air your thoughts and influence the outcome.

‘This is why we are saying “Your Future - Choose It or Lose It!” We want people to influence what happens.’

Coordinating the Neighbourhood Plan is Mhairi Mackie, who said that the drop-in events would be the chance for people to feed back on the draft policies, particularly those relating to housing and green space.

People attending the events will also have the opportunity to pinpoint their own favourite places in the parish, so that these can become part of a Landscape Character Study.

The sessions will be held from 10am - 12 noon as follows: tomorrow (October 5) at Dobwalls Church Hall; Saturday October 12 at Hoburne Holiday Park, Doublebois; and Saturday October 19 at Trewidland Village Hall.
