A PLANNING application has been resubmitted for the conversion of a Looe Hotel into four homes.

The applicant, Stonehouse Design and Build Ltd from Saltash, had been required to do a marketing exercise to see if there was interest from prospective buyers to continue using it as a hotel.

The marketing exercise showed that there is negligible interest in the Fieldhead Hotel being retained as a hotel. The building requires major improvement and renovation to bring it to a modern standard, states a report submitted to Cornwall Council.

The three-storey building on Portuan Road ceased functioning as a hotel in 2018 and has been vacant since.

The proposal is for two three-bedroom and two two-bedroom dwellings, with the bulk of the conversion work to be carried out internally, although extensions are proposed to the rear at first floor level. The gardens and external amenity areas will be used communally, although areas adjacent to each dwelling will be private to that property.
