PLANS to build 12 new homes in a village have been withdrawn.
Concerns over access were raised by Cornwall Council’s Highways development manager in response to the scheme on land north of Little Chimneys in Widegates.
An outline planning application was submitted by agent AHT design on behalf of the landowners Mr and Mrs Bishop in August of this year.
In its response to the planning application, the Highways department said that insufficient information had been provided to indicate visibility from the site onto the road, access for service vehicles, and any potential plans for a pedestrian connection to the rest of the village.
While Morval Parish Council said its members were happy with the change of use of the site, the council felt that ’12 houses were too many’ and that this prompted concern over access and the volume of traffic.
Cornwall Council’s public space officer also raised an objection to the scheme. National planning policy requires that all new development must provide public open space on site, in proportion to the size of the development.
The officer states: ‘As the proposal does not include any suitable open space, we are forced to object. An area comprising a minimum of 500 square metres of usable recreational land on-site is required to make this scheme compliant with current standards.’
