The latest planning applications being looked at by Cornwall Council include a glamping site with handmade shepherd's huts - and a three storey home proposal in Downderry which the planning officer says must be 'vastly reduced in its bulk'.....HISTORIC building advice has been requested for the construction of a two-storey house, in a settlement with conservation/restoration heritage structures, on land north of Greenhill House, Delaware, Drakewalls.

n PRE-APPLICATION advice has been requested by the Dovetail Shalom Christian Trust for the construction of a 200-seat meeting room together with modifications to the school room to provide extra toilets, a further meeting room and speakers’ lounge at Tremore Christian School, Tremore Manor, Bodmin.

n PLANNING has been applied for to change the use of a redundant barn, known as Little Barn, at Midwood Barn, Bluebell Lane, Golberdon, into a holiday let.

n PLANS to demolish a Nissan hut on land southwest of Popes Mill, Roseland, Menheniot, and replace it with a house may not get officer support according to pre-application advice.

Principal Development Officer George Shirley told the applicant that the site does not form part of a settlement and the building does not appear to be of substantial construction.

n A SCHEME to demolish a detached house at Carinya in West Camps Bay, Downderry, and replace it with a three-storey home is not likely to get officer support according to pre-application advice.

Principal Development Officer George Shirley advised that any future application needs to be vastly reduced in its bulk and be more reflective of the scale and form.

He said that a bungalow or dormer bungalow would be best to minimise impacts on neighbouring properties. The application had attracted opposition from neighbour Fiona Hancock, who had concerns that the plans would have a detrimental impact on her lifestyle, amenity and privacy.

n OFFICER support is likely to be given for a small stable block and all-weather equestrian arena for use as a small-scale equestrian business (without livery) at Old Blackcombe Farm House, Henwood.

The applicant was advised that careful consideration must be given to the scale of the proposed buildings and the potential impact upon the AONB and countryside setting.

n PROPOSALS to create a glamping site with two handmade shepherds’ huts on land at 5 Polscoe, Lostwithiel, would be tantamount to new dwellings in the countryside and would not be supported by planning policies. Senior Development Officer Tracy Young responded to pre-application advice saying: ‘The proposal would represent unjustified and sporadic development within the open countryside with poor accessibility to necessary daily services….It would result in a permanent and discernible change to the site that would result in harm to the intrinsic character and natural beauty of the Area of Great Landscape Value.’

n PERMISSION has been given for the demolition of buildings and the erection of a dormer bungalow at Newlyn, Church Lane, Cargreen. The applicants will have to pay a £46k community infrastructure levy.
