THE proximity to an old mineshaft has led planners to say ‘no’ to a new house in a moorland village.

In Darite, Mr C Saunders had made an outline planning application to construct a new house north of an existing property, Wheal Agar.

But in his response to the scheme, planning officer George Shirley said that the site ‘is located outside the settlement of Darite’ and that building on it would therefore represent an ‘undesirable extension into the adjoining countryside’.
