A SITE that used to house an Egyptian museum tourist attraction may be turned into a home.

The former Methodist Chapel in Dobwalls was once a 1930s-themed museum housing Anne Edwards and Stuart Beilby’s private collection of Egyptian treasures including coffins, mummies, statues and a Tutankhamun exhibition.

It included a copy of Tutankhamun’s death mask.

But the museum was closed in 2008 and is now known as Ashleigh Chapel.

Plans have been lodged to convert it from light industrial and commercial use to a three-bed home.

The site had been empty for two years before the present owner acquired it in 2011.

There were plans to create a glass-blowing studio and shop, but they never came to fruition.

The application is yet to be considered by the parish or county councils.
