THE change of a former bank building into eight apartments, and the installation of electric vehicle charging bays at a retail park will be on the agenda for Liskeard Town Council’s planning committee to discuss when they meet tomorrow (Monday March 14).

The Grade II listed Trehawke House on the corner of Dean Street is a prominent town centre property. Once the home of Nat West, the building has been empty for several years and is now owned by Mr and Mrs N Eadie. The couple had originally hoped to create a retail unit alongside the flats, but this plan has been revised and now the scheme is for eight flats to be sold on the open market.

The planning application states: “The building has been empty for several years and the applicants are keen to realise the completed development, however Coronavirus, spiralling building costs and a collapse of commercial property values has forced a reevaluation.

“A full residential conversion remains the only viable prospect for the building.”

The extra apartment now planned for the ground floor will join one other unit in the property in being fully compliant for disabled access.

The plans can be seen on Cornwall Council’s planning portal by using the reference PA21/10721.

Meanwhile up at the Bubble Retail Park, Motor Fuel Group Ltd is applying for permission to install six electric vehicle charging bays close to the Costa cafe. Councillors will discuss the merits of the scheme tomorrow: the plans can be found by using reference PA22/01764

Among the other applications due to be reviewed by Liskeard Town Council is a plan to build a new house on Caunter Road (PA22/00814) and change of use of an office on Barn Street to residential (PA22/00672).
