Young widows and widowers will be rolling out their picnic blankets on Sunday, May 19 at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.
The annual event is to raise awareness of the support available to those bereaved under the age of 50. This year the peer-to-peer support network WAY (Widowed and Young) is appealing to widowed men to go along and take the first step towards better mental health after bereavement. According to the Samaritans more than four out of five men feel they can’t talk to other people about their problems.
WAY’s annual Big Picnic weekend is a chance for people who have been widowed young to get together with other bereaved families – and for their families and members of the public to find out how the charity works.
The Mount Edgcumbe House event will be on the main lawns in front of the house on Sunday, May 19 from 1pm to 4pm.
