Pensilva Summer Skittles league - Captain Mavis lead the way as Landers claim six points
The Bodmin Landers strength-ened their hold at the top of the table as all six points came their way yet again when they faced Gremlins, who had hoped for some points to hold on to the third spot which they currently occupy. However, it was not to be as the Landers scored well, led by Captain Mavis Jeffery and her 79 pins.
The Tigers, who were still chasing honours, got off to bad start, trailing by four pins after four legs of skittling against the Middlers. Although both teams increased their score-rate in the remaining four legs, the Tigers came out best, winning overall by six pins and a 4-2 pt win.
The Potholers rise to third place following their 6-0 victory over the Quarriers where 20 pins was the total advantage between the two teams.
The Golden Girls have done it again, with Rascals their unlucky opponents this week. After four legs, the Girls were in front by a massive 29 pins, and looked set for their first maximum 6-0 win. It looked to be going that way up to the last ball of the game as, after a recount of the scores in the second period, both teams scored 109 pins to share those two points, but showed the Girls best win with a 5-1 pt victory and narrowing the gap between the two lowly placed teams.
The occurance of two teams with level scores in either half or totals is extremely rare but as above mentioned Girls and Rascals did just that it happened again in the same night where in the game between the Galaxy and Hillsecs, the latter were seven pins in front, but the second period called for another recount but showed both teams knocking over 111 pins, each showing a much need 5-1 pt win for those Hillsecs.
