More than £550 was raised to help children with cystic fibrosis through the annual fireworks display held at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint.

A cheque for £558 was presented by Warrant Officer Chris Woolley from the naval base to chaildren's respiratory nurse Caroline Tilley from Derriford Hospital.

The money was raised at the display which was attended by Torpoint residents and naval and civilian personnel from the base.

Caroline, who is a community outreach nurse, visits and gives support to children and parents at home and at the hospital.

The money raised will go towards training aids and equipment to help parents and children deal with the difficulties they encounter. Cystic fibrosis largely affects the lungs and intestines and requires daily treatment.
