The South West Outdoor Festival will be at the National Trust Penrose estate, between Helston and Porthleven, next weekend.

This is the first year the event has been hosted in Cornwall and the programme of activities brings a new full and half marathon to the county- amongst many other activities including world record–holding expedition runners, cyclists, kayakers and hikers, plus ocean rowers, planet-looping sailors, wild swimmers, rock climbers and even a mermaid.

Wildlife experts will give talks about Cornish animals; professional storyteller Mark Harrandon will be waxing lyrical around the campfire on Friday and Saturday evening and comedy Cornish Rappers Hedluv and Passman are in Saturday’s line-up.

All talks, films and bands are free for ticket-holding festival goers, as are a multitude of activities ranging from food foraging walks, campfire cooking and star gazing through to yoga, archery and axe throwing.

Other adventures – trail running, mountain biking, rock climbing, surfing, sea kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and more – can be booked on the website at an additional cost along with camping pitches: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/SWOF
