Tomorrow sees the One Day Festival take over Downderry’s Inn on the Shore.
The event is being organised by Roland Monger for Saturday because March 25 marks a year after he was diagnosed with skin cancer.
Roland, 36, has had a tumour removed from his leg and been through extensive treatment in a ‘horrible year’.
Now, he said: ‘One Day Festival is one day of music, fun, laughter and togetherness to raise cash and awareness around skin cancer but also to appreciate what we’ve got in our lives, right here, right now.’
A host of local bands and performers have signed up to perform at the Inn on the Shore and raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth, where Roland had treatment and support.
‘Music is the natural choice for me,’ said Roland, ‘as I spend most of my time blogging as Listen With Monger (listenwithmonger.blogspot.co.uk/) so I hope we can all come together to celebrate music and be thankful for what we have – family, friends and good times.’
Roland, who works in the admissions department at Plymouth University, has also chronicled his battle against cancer and much besides at ididitsite.wordpress. com/2016/03/
There’s free admission to the One Day Festival at the Inn on the Shore, Downderry, on Saturday, March 25, from 2pm. Donations are welcome in support of St Luke’s Hospice.
There’s a raffle with prizes including festival tickets, meals out and lots of CDs.
There’ll be music from: St Germans-based The Ha Has; Phat Bollard; Nick Gladdish; Mark Cornwall; The Busketeers; Jamie Yost; Joanna Clarke; Gozer Goodspeed; Saltash-based singer-songwriter Paul Armer; and the Deviock Community Music Group.
