A VILLAGE is set to host the first of a new series of monthly fresh produce markets.

Calstock’s Tamar Inn will be hosting the event on Saturday, August 19.

Celia Williams, the landlady of the pub, has been working on the plan with Theo Brown from the Calstock Community Shop Steering Group.

The group was set up after the loss of Calstock’s only shop earlier this year.

They have teamed up with producers and growers from Tamar Grow Local and other local suppliers who will set up their stalls in the courtyard of the Tamar Inn.

To go alongside the market the pub will be putting on a special brunch menu so that customers can have a bite and a pint when they have finished their shopping.

Stalls open at 11am and will go on till 2.00pm.

The Tamar Inn is planning to stage the market on the third Saturday of every month.

There will be stalls selling locally grown fruit and vegetables, meat, bread and crafts.
