A NEW ferry service is to provide another summer link between the Rame Peninsula and Plymouth.

Three waterfront destinations are to be linked for the first time by a new ferry route.

Plymouth Boat Trips, regeneration company Urban Splash and Mount Edgcumbe have launched the new hop-on, hop-off ferry service, which will link Plymouth’s historic Barbican to the Royal William Yard and Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

Plymouth City Council and Cornwall Council have been involved in setting up the new service.

It will operate from April to October with a reduced service during winter months.

The Cremyll Ferry service from Mount Edgcumbe to Admiral’s Hard will continue as normal.

Ben Squire of Plymouth Boat Trips said: ‘We are excited at the opportunities this will open up for the city’s tourism and sustainable transport offer.’

‘We are very pleased that the new ferry route will for the first time seamlessly link Mount Edgcumbe Country House to Royal William Yard and The Barbican,’ said David Marshall of Mount Edgcumbe.
