THREE teenagers have raised more than £2000 as they transformed their village church for a live music gig.

Singer Charlie Harris, 16, organised the event in Menheniot for the Teenage Cancer Trust and invited her friends Luke Bunkum and Charlie Whitehair to be the supporting acts.

With assistance from Jamie and Oliver Hedges of JHAV events specialists, St Lalluwy Church was filled with a professional lighting display as the young musicians took to the stage.

More than 200 people attended the concert, held in memory of Charlie’s auntie Sally Glover.

‘Charlie Whitehair set the tone for the night with an outstanding choice of covers, including the Beatles, Oasis and Pink Floyd,’ said Charlie’s mum, Zoe Harris.

‘Next up was Luke who gave the audience a more chilled out vibe.’

A golden bucket raffle drawn during the interval added £230 to the fundraising total, and then Charlie continued the second half of the concert with a mixture of originals and covers.

‘Charlie had the audience on their feet by the end of her set and was given a standing ovation, before inviting Charlie and Luke back on stage to sing some classic covers,’ said Zoe.

‘There was no doubt that these youngsters had entertained the audience, with people dancing in the aisles and singing along.

‘The church looked absolutely stunning, glowing in an array of colours, something that had not been seen before,’ she continued.

‘A huge thank you must go to JHAV Ltd, who gave their time and equipment for free and who were at the church from 12.30pm arranging lights and ensuring the sound was amazing. Thanks must also go to Jon Harris Photography for capturing the event.’
