Balkan party music and folk-punk combine for a gig designed to help keep alive the music scene on the Rame Peninsula following the closure of a venue.
Previous Maker session favourites, Bristol-based Balkan-flavoured Mr Tea and the Minions, play at Millbrook Football Club on June 22 with support from local band, Tom O Reilly and the Swaggers (pictured).
A spokesperson for the organisers said: ‘With the recent closure of the only grass roots music venue on the Rame Peninsula, the Random Arms and Energy Room at Maker Heights, when the building was sold to a development company, the strong community of creatives and musicians in the area are keen to keep the live music scene vibrant. The event has been organised by the musicians.’
The Minions combine gypsy-flavoured ska, dub and swing and have played raucous gigs at festivals including Glastonbury.
South East Cornwall-based Tom O’Reilly and the Swaggers include the frontman, fiddler and bassist of Cornwall’s folk-punk favourites Black Friday.
The Swaggers were winners of Kan Rag Kernow song competition 2016 and runners-up of the Pan Celtic Song competition 2016.
Tickets are available from the Honey Room Cafe, Millbrook or online via eventbrite.
