A Gunnislake man is preparing for a fundraising drive around the UK in a 1987 hand-painted Mini.

Stevie Mann hopes to raise enough money on the 4,279-mile trip to buy his own RNLI lifeboat, which will cost around £12,000. The trip will start at Land's End on Sept-ember 1 and travel clockwise around the UK visiting all 165 RNLI lifeboat stations in 41 days.

Stevie has already received help with customising his mini with stickers and graphics and hopes that Mini clubs around the country will get involved and join him on his trip.

Stevie said: 'I am doing the trip because I want to go round the coast of the UK and have a love for Minis. I have confidence that other people like me will help and join in.

'All profits will go towards the lifeboat, this means apart from the cost of things like the stickers, etc, the rest of the money will go directly to the new lifeboat which I will call Mini 1.'

Musician Stevie also plans to run fund-raising nights starting with the Rising Sun Inn in Gunnislake on February 14.
