A PAST season of unqualified success and a future oozing with optimism were toasted by flag officers and members alike when Looe Sailing Club held its laying-up supper and presentation evening at the Buller Street clubhouse.

One of the outstanding success stories of the past summer was the growing interest in the Mirror dinghy fleet with as many as 15 boats now regularly vying for honours in Looe Bay.

And the resurgence of the class is the principal reason why Looe has regained its place on the prestigious Golden Hind 'travellers' series calendar for 2009 with a special Mirror Open meeting now planned for the Spring Bank Holiday meeting.

Meanwhile, as well as the club's traditional participation in next year's Redwing Nationals, Looe will be a hive of activity in August when the ultra-fast RS class holds its week-long championship series in the Bay.
