Drivers planning to use the A30 between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross over the next four weeks are advised to allow extra time for their journeys while essential overnight drainage and maintenance work is carried out.
The current drainage system will be repaired and upgraded along the eight-mile section of carriageway, and to minimise disruption, maintenance work will also take place at the same time.
The work will be carried out on week nights only, 8pm to 6am, starting on Monday, 26 February with a week of lane closures under traffic signals.
From Monday, 5 March to Saturday, 10 March, the A30 will be closed overnight, between 8pm and 6am, with traffic diverted via the A3058 and A3075 to rejoin the A30. During this time, access will be made available to local residents.
The programme of work will, dependent on weather, revert to weeknight overnight lane closures under traffic signals, from 12 March until 23 March, and in the meantime, Highways England advises drivers to allow extra time and plan their journeys.
