A LISKEARD pub has been recognised for the quality of its real ale after being selected for the latest edition of CAMRA’s prestigious Good Beer Guide.

The King Doniert in Barras Street features in The Good Beer Guide 2027, after being chosen by members of the local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) branch.

Branch members made regular visits to the Wetherspoon pub to assess the quality of the real ales being served.

Their selection also took into account customer service, décor and the overall atmosphere at the pub.

A CAMRA spokesman said The King Doniert had earned its place in the guide.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard,” he said.

Pub manager Ian Lynskey said he was delighted by the recognition.

“I am delighted The King Doniert has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members,” he said. “Staff at the pub work hard to ensure the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this,” he said.

The pub offers a wide selection of real ales throughout the year, including beers produced by regional and microbreweries.

It also hosts its own beer festivals, giving customers the opportunity to sample a wider range of ales.

The Good Beer Guide is published annually by CAMRA and features pubs selected by its members for the quality of their real ale and the overall experience they provide.

The pub will now feature among the venues highlighted in the 2027 edition of the guide, which is widely regarded as a key reference for real ale drinkers across the UK.
