TAMSIN Summers says she is “absolutely delighted” to be taking on the challenge of leading Liskeard School and Community College when she becomes its new headteacher in January.

She has been appointed following a recruitment process at the end of the summer term and will take over from current headteacher Dan Wendon at the start of 2027.

She joins Liskeard with extensive senior leadership experience in the region and is currently deputy principal at Paignton Academy. She has also previously worked at Plymstock School.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Liskeard School and Community College in January and really looking forward to getting to know colleagues in the school, SMART Trust and South East Cornwall,” she said.

“What an honour to be given the opportunity to lead such a fantastic school.”

She will work closely with staff, students, parents and the wider community as she takes on the role, with a focus on building on the work already taking place at the school.

School leaders said Ms Summers has a strong track record in school improvement and a clear commitment to supporting the learning and development of young people across the region.

Current headteacher Mr Wendon announced in June that he would be leaving Liskeard after four years to take up a new role in Plymouth. He has been appointed executive headteacher of Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College, a position he will also begin in January 2027.

“I am immensely proud to have worked alongside a truly extraordinary team of inspirational students and staff over the last four years,” said Mr Wendon, who will work with Ms Summers during the coming months to ensure a smooth transition before she officially takes the reins in January.

The school said it was delighted to welcome Ms Summers to Liskeard and the wider SMART Trust team.
