At the February meeting of the Polperro lights committee, chaired by Robert Chisman, at The Ship Inn, Mr Brian Wallington gave the committee a presentation on the sort of lighting which would be appropriate for this year's display.
Fundraising events for the year 2000 were discussed and it was reported that the 100 Club is going well although there are still 16 numbers to be taken up. January's winners were: £25 Phil Dobson (97), £10 Simon Tindale (13), £5 Mrs C Entwisle (20). Winners for February were 74 (not sold) so returned to fund, Tony Pagett (34) and Scott Govier (69). Another popular ongoing event is the regular Tuesday night quiz at The Mill House at 7.30pm, to which all are welcome.
Mr Chisman thanked the committee for all their hard work also the traders and householders, who had all pulled together to give the village such a good display at short notice. Thanks were also expressed for all the help with the carol service and to the residents for supporting it so well.
The next meeting will be at The Ship on Wednesday next, March 15 at 7.30pm.
